"Tzfat is sick and a sick person needs a Doctor. I am a Doctor!"
.
Dr. Stern's vision for Tzfat: "Vision is a very hazy and distant thing but I do have a dream - to see Tzfat as a center of knowledge and tourism - Tzfat should be a city of Torah, tradition and Kabbalah, and a university town like Cambridge. The Rambam is a prime example of how these two aspects can exist side by side."
"Two very important things need to be done in Tzfat: first: to clean up the city. The city is dirty and needs an overall cleanup, in more than one sense of the word. The second, which does not cost a shekel, to see an improvement in the attitude towards our residents - it upsets and frustrates me that when people call the municipality they do not get a conclusive and clear answer - the citizen is referred hither and thither and is not offered a solution to his or her problem. The mayor and his entire team of municipal workers receive their salary from the citizens of the town, and they deserve a decent service. Apart from this, I dream of seeing Tzfat as a city that will really attract tourists. We have to consider what is important to us as tourists when we visit other towns. Tzfat needs to change in many ways."
Dr. Stern's contribution to the city: "First, as a doctor with a very busy clinic, I am already well-respected and I do not need this position as means for personal gain, financial or otherwise. I have no political aspirations and am not beholden to anyone. I intend to make an impact and effect changes in the way the city is run. I provide an excellent service, I come with a clean record and pure ethics, healthy common sense, a rich background in leadership and an ability to communicate (in many languages). I know that first I need to make a diagnosis and conduct a complete checkup, and after I find the source of the sickness, I can begin to heal, and the healing process will take time.
Tzfat is sick and needs to be healed, I am a Doctor!"
